[#6913381]

Be honest with me please.

Im struggling still to get comfy on this.

I feel like I am always shuffling rearwards on the seat to try and get in a decent pedaling position and my legs just above my knees are always hurting/aching?

Here are some pics of me on the bike side on (dont laugh I know Im fat).......

This one shows max leg extension..

This one shows knee over pedal spindle....

Ive been trying it with a 50mm stem today that someone off the forum kindly lent me and first impressions arent good. It feels cramped and I find myself trying to shuffle even further back ??

What do you think??

To me that looks way too small but I might be wrong.

What size is it and what size are you?

I thought they looked like 24's

Don't tell me that's a 29er?
It suddenly looks bigger without you

Why would you put a 50mm stem on?!

If that really is a large then it should be fine if you really are 6ft.

Usually the question for 6fters is "do I need a medium or large?"

Agree with the above. It does look too small but the camera angle definitely isn't helping.

Edit: looks too short in the TT though.

Are you all in proportion? 😯
I'm talking torso vs. inseam? 😉

I ask because a large should be good for you - but it looks like you have the seat very high. (could be camera angle though)

What is your exact inside leg measurement?

Is your seatpost laidback, is your seat also right back?
Just ordered a XL (from L), based on the fact that all my old bike photo's have laid back posts, seat all the way back and 80+ stems (& comparing ETT's)...

put on a reasonable length stem back on.

I don't know a massive amount but surely a short stem for you would be a long for a shorter person.

I think 50mm would be very short for me and I'm currently using a 90mm. I'm only 5ft 8

You must have ape arms and a really long torso if it feels too small. 😆

Something with a longer top tube / reach (around 24.5"ish) and a slightly longer stem might feel better?

Wider bars help at all? is that an anthem? they look narrow

Can't tell a lot from the top pics but the bike lower down looks about right.

I feel like I am always shuffling rearwards on the seat to try and get in a decent pedaling position

Are you shuffling back for balance or from wanting a longer reach? Sit on the bike as you are in the top pic - can you lift your hands just off the bars but maintain that position relatively easily, or do you tip fwd?
If you tip fwd then knee over pedal isn't working (as is often the case). You may need to sit a bit further back over the BB to get a balanced seated position. Unf you already have a layback post, but try sliding the saddle back and see if it changes anything.
How does the bike feel if you're stood up just riding figure 8s and playing about?

big lads always make bikes look small, I know because pics of me on a bike can look strange 😯 You've got proper leg extension, and looking at the seat in relation to the handle bars I'd say it's spot on.
Not sure about a 50mm stem though a 75-80mm would give you more room.

Maybe it looks wrong because your attire does not match your bike 🙂

Too small, I'd say. Stem looks upside down. Bar sweeps up a lot and the brake position is making you drop your wrists. Also, do you always ride with your elbows locked? Nice looking bike, though, and bonus points for log/valve alignment, neat cables/hoses and well-trimmed lawn.

Looks like you need an xl 29er to me.
If it feels to small then it's too small.

Take a photo with you on the bike from the same angle as the bike alone pics and we'll have 1/2 a chance of telling.

Based on the numbers a large for a 6' rider should be bang on - just get on and ride the thing and stop worrying about what Steve Jones says.

Longer stem, wider bars and that'll be bob on.

I've already put 780mm bars on it.

I tried a 50 mm stem as when i was hanging off the back on some steep stuff I got caught up trying to get back up on the bike.

Movability wise it feels fine and quite nimble.

It's actuAlly longer ett and reach than my previous xl 5 spot.

I will try and get some better pics tomorrow at a better level.

Cookci come back with an opinion when your own bike is sorted and your not falling off it. 😉

As someone who's 196cm and rides a large i'd say it's too big 😀

Agree with the 70mm stem (i switch between 50 + 70mm depending on how much uphill pedaling i'm planning on doing).

I'd want to see a picture with you out of the saddle. Saddle to bottom bracket looks fine. But reach, particularly when out of the saddle may not be.

I agree with this man - http://sheldonbrown.com/frame-sizing.html

Top tube length is the most important measure when sizing a bike and the Giant appears too small for your build/reach.

Five spot ett was 24.2inches. Trance us 24.5
Five spot reach was 42.24cm, trance is 43.9cm.

Xl five spot fitted perfect with a 55mm stem and layback post which is why I went for a large trance as the size is almost the same if not slightly bigger.

An xl trance would be far to big ??

EDIT ... which thread are you on about v666ern?

If it feels too small then fitting a 50mm stem will only make matters worse.
