[Closed] Is it worth the expense?

I'm toying with the idea of an uppy downy seatpost. Ride a Wolf Ridge 2009 in a small size. Current seatpost is a layback syncros job with 115mm of useable seatpost exposed. I can easily get off the back of the saddle as it is.
Will a Reverb (for example) post actually be worth my cash you reckon or do i have my post too short to use one?

Saw that 🙂 Which was what prompted the question!

My X-Fusion HiLo is probably the best money I've ever spent on a component. I prefer to, and am used to, riding descents and fast trails with the saddle dropped; and being able to reposition the saddle in order to get back to the obvious benefits of seated climbs, whilst barely having to break rhythm, is just great. The same applies for vice versa, of course. If I were an eccentric millionaire, I would buy one for everyone.

As with any expense, whether it's worth it or not is between you and your wallet. The HiLo is under £100 from Action Sports in Germany and is excellent quality.

£250-ish is a lot of cash though, i'm still wondering if it will be worth it considering how short i have my post currently...

As per my edit, the (non-remote) Hilo is less than £100. So far, I'm very happy with the quality.

Do a forum search for 'hilo'. There are a few threads on both the seat post and on Action Sports.

Bugger - the Hilo doesn't come in the 30.9mm size i need (suppose it could be shimmed though...)

Do you ride better with your saddle down and want to go fast?

If you answer yes to that question then buy one!

Wouldn't be without one now, I would recommend one that can be positioned in it's whole travel rather than an up or down.

TBH i don't know! I don't often stop and lower the seatpost on the WR but have been known to do so on my Mount Vision (different style of bike etc).
Might help me get over my complete fear of big drop offs etc.

Reverb will require 190mm of exposed seatpost that may limit your options.

You're absolutely right. I'm sure that my card statement was for about £96, and I'll check it when I get home; but the correct exchange price is, as you say, around £140. Curse my befuddled brain (and/or Action Sport's under-charging!!). Still worth it (for me) at £140, though!
