....a seat unit of some kind to fit this Onza T-Rex.
I've borrowed this for my lad with a view to buying it if he's happy but would prefer it to have a saddle, can't seem to find anything on the interweb

there are 4 tapped holes in this plate which looks like it would take a bracket of some kind

..or should I forget it and get him a bike with a saddle.
right tool for the job?
if you want to put a saddle on a trials bike, i suggest its not
It is possible to get a bracket to fit a seat to these frames (or the Zoot) but they're pretty tricky to find and fugly so I really wouldn't bother.
There are enough trials bikes available now with seats though, so it'd be easy enough to either track down a seated bike complete or switch frames on the existing components
you can get a 'saddle shaped object' to go on there for times when comp rules say you need to have a saddle but no one ever actually sits on them...
Why would you want a saddle on a trials bike? I presume you're not wanting it for trials, in which case you'd be better off with a non-trials specific frame?
Cheers for that, had a change of plan now though. My lad thinks this is pretty cool but would actually prefer a BMX so off to the shops this weekend.
Nothing wrong with having a saddle on a trials bike in the slightest, other than the fact it looks ghey as **** on anything that wasn't designed primarily to run one.
Not everyone's going to be out there sidehopping 55" and needing the extra standover, so some of us prefer something a little more old school, a little more spinny and with some padding for our arse!
