My forks are currently holding up nicely, but eventually they're need replacing and newer models seem to have post mounting for calipers. Can I fit a IS caliper (Shimano LX) to a post mount fork? Presumably there's some sort of adapter available. Are post mount and IS caliper actually different or is it down to the adapters?

Most shimano calipers are post mount with an IS adapter fitted, so you just remove that adapter and fit them straight on (or add a +20mm or whatever). Some, like XTR, are IS only so you need an adapter.
