reading more and more on here about guys having their pride taken from garages etc , i think if caught the punishment for this scum should be a good beating !

Me too. I spotted that Cameron and Osborne following back from the woods the other day so I had to do a few loops round the block to lose them before I could head home.
It's not a simple question... Some people will tell you that it's increased but that people don't report the thefts (I doubt that personally, at least not to any great extent). Others will tell you that the crime stats are fiddled. But it does seem pretty clear to me that the number of bikes and the number of riders and the number of rides has increased more than the number of thefts, so proportionally they're going down.
