Just SSing my lads bike and have used my old Truvativ GPX cranks. I took off the LX cranks and kept in the HT2 BB, but there's play.
Is a GPX crankset compatable with a Shimano HT2 BB?
Yesis a GPX BB different to a HT2 BB?
Yes, the non-drive side bearings on a GXP BB are smaller than on HT2. You can buy spacers that take up the space and solve the issue.
no they use a spacer/shim on the non drive side

So I remove the non drive side crank, leaving the HT2 in situ, pop in the spacer(s) then pop the crank back on & tighten?
Sorry, Im a idiot ๐ณ
No, you take out the bb and press in the spaces on the non drive side into the bearing. Or buy a gpx bb. T
I'd be wary of using spacers on a Shimano BB, they usually fit directly to the bearing, and are then clamped together between the step on the axle, and the crank arm. By all means try, but i'd expect them to destroy the plastic top hat in the Shimano BB.
No they are different from ๐ [/pedant]
Agree with coatesy - I wouldn't put the spacers in a Shimano bb as they'll likely destroy the top hat. Easier just to use the correct bb. It a shame they didn't take the chance with external bb's to have a true 'standard'.
