Is it best to split the hose, well not split disconnect, and drain all the fluid out, feed through the frame, reconnect and fill/bleed the system?

Or, is there an easier way?

No need to drain fluid out. You should not lose any \ only a very little by disconnecting one end of the hose. Put it back together and it might need topping up a tiny amount, but should not need bleeding in my experience.

Use the same method as shortening the hoses only without shortening the hoses.

- Take pads out
- Pump lever to push pistons out a bit
- disconnect hose from lever assembly

Then

- thread hose through frame
- reconnect to lever assembly
- push the pistons back into calliper
- insert yellow bleed block and pump lever until firm
- insert pads and pad spacer
- pump lever
- remove pad spacer and fit wheel
- job done

Pushing the pistons out of the calliper at the beginning enables you to push the fluid inc any air bubbles back up the hose into the reservoir when you reset them.
