Yo,
Having found out that Ilkley moor is a goer under the common land agreement and seeing it is criss crossed with trails I fancy giving it a bash. Are there any great bits I need to ride or is it more of a 'sessiony' area? How will it be after the current weather i.e. are the trails rocky or earthy?
Cheers
Some rocky some earthy. Wont be at it's best after all this rain. I normally start at the Cow and Calf straight down the rocky chute towards White Wells. From here climb to Red Bog then past the craggy bit up to Keighley Gate. Traverse to trig then pick a route back to start. Go when it's dried out and explore, there loads of other stuff.
Like Si says, wait until it dries out. I don't know what 'common land agreement' means, as far as I'm concerned the land owner of Ilkley Moor(Bradford Council) tollerates/permits sensible use. There is currently no permission for Bingley Moor, Burley Moor or Silsden (owned by someone else). That might change in the near future, someone is currently in the process of trying to get permission to cycle over Bingley Moor.
dont forget t' 'at.

Cheers guys, I;ll definitely give it a look when the sun's been out for a while!
The bit overlooking Ilkely is just a big playground, so go and explore. Higher up, the best advice is to go for the ridge lines (I think there are two further levels), although not exclusively. Apparently there is a great route from above Silsden all the way to White Wells that is slightly descending all the way. Also, the track over to Dick Hudsons is good, always slightly downhill from the 12 Apostles Stones for about 2 miles to Dicks
