Oh yes, the worlds greatest New forest based mountain bike event is back! We have a new pump track, a gravity track and some secret northshore in the wiggly woods!
Having tried sunshinne the first year and rain for the second we have decided to go for sunshine again this year so bring sun cream please.
Please buy tickets soon as we need your money to pay for marquees and toilets etc.
All for charity - trade enquiries welcome
Yay! If you're there, then I'm there! ๐
i have no idea what you are on about but i'll bump it ๐
"Gravity Track" in the New Forest? LOL
I've spent many years riding around the forest, and it's flat as a pancake!
Looks like a fun weekend though - a mate went the other year with his family, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was completed yesterday and needs to be left to bed in for a while but should be perfect by the BBB in August

It's a few days before Mrs Grips is due. Will there be childbirth facilities on-site?
(Fantastic work on the trail building btw! I'm amazed that you got that done.. presumably it's for the use of that youth centre mainly...)
I'll go if Fred promises not to sh@t himself again ๐
part funded by Big Bike Bash, part funded by the lottery. It is for everyone.
We have a full size birthing pool available, if you look at the ariel shot of the house you can see the blue pool : http://www.bigbikebash.co.uk/content/venue
WCA, if you can get over to cyclexperience at all soon well put up some posters for you.
Also that petition you asked to sign is full if you want it back.

Cycle-X in Brock? You were my LBS from 1995 to around 2003 ๐
Bought many a part from you, and thanks for letting me raid your shed of odd's n' ends ๐
Cheers - I will pick up the petition at the weekend. not sure if we have posters yet but I will see what our "Director of Colouring In" can come up with
That pump track looks great.
I mean errr you bad man posting this.
WCA, sounds great. Will there be spectators at the birthing pool?
I understand the lake jumpis quite good for inducing labour and that is normally the last event on Sunday so gets a good crowd.
PS It might be worth buying a childs ticket anyway just in case she is early, they are only a penny. ๐
Will the pump track be open to the public outside of this event? (Once bedded in) I live a short distance down the road so it could be fun for a play.
Brick - Yes but please leave it for a month from now to visit. It literally was just finished yesterday and if you go sinking tyre tracks into it while it is settling / hardening then Louis will be very cross with you.
if i can take days off and can afford the plane ticket... Count me in
Juan, you CAN'T miss it! ๐
Tickets bought ๐
Who's organising the chalet?
Juan - do you want me to supply your bike and UK transport again?
WCA - do you want the BBB web address/logo on the Team Bullheart stash for MM? If so, email me a jpg please...
Cheers Mark - I will see what I can do
sadly i wont be there this year to defend my (very drunken)night race title (not whippets category) but as a 2x visitor of the BBB i can whole heartedly vouch for the fun factor...good looking tracks too..
"Gravity Track" in the New Forest? LOL
๐
Are BBBs pics of the tracks the digital equivalent of humble pie being dished out? ๐
I gotta say that looks superb!
*round of applause*
Your website's ticket page is out of date slightly - states: "Please select the age as at 23rd August 2009."
Might come down here for our annual summer NF weekend.
ooh, tempted!
Thanks Dave - prrof read at 2am in the hotel and I missed that one.
Slowrider - please do, it is a fun weekend. I am hoping not to dislocate both shoulders this time
What bike for the big bike bash? SS or FS? Is there room for my caravan?
nbt - Yes, yes & yes ๐
NF weekend ๐ฏ Visions of hoards of skinheads stomping over Avon Tyrrell
nbt - You can bring your caravan but you will need to book that with Avon Tyrrell directly as there are limited spaces and they control that bit. Camping included in the ticket price. Log cabins with cookers, toilets and showers need to be booked direct with Avon Tyrrell too.
The phrases "pump track" and "gravity track" mean nothing to me, but from the looks of things, they are both different ways of saying "long BMX track".
Am I right?
I am hoping not to dislocate both shoulders this time
How TF do you dislocate both shoulders at once?
carlphillips - Membersadly i wont be there this year
His [s]boss[/s] other half is topping off 10 months of DIY-not-riding by making him go camping somewhere else that weekend, with less beer, no bikes and no bands.
Loser. ๐
What's a gravity track?
If nbt and slowrider are going then so shall I.
Are tandems allowed?
Unfortunatly the BBB this year clashes with the BBD race , which i have already signed up for .
Might try and make it over on the Sunday for the day though.
Rob

By crowd surfing from the stage when somethings missing, the crowd !!
Just note to anyone thinking of camping at Holmsley I would advice booking early. I was visiting my parents over this weekend last year and the place was rammed.
Once again, fair play. It seems like only yesterday you asked about how to build a pump track. Seriously well done.
...trouble is, you always put this event in the middle of my summer holiday!
Tandems are welcome - you are likly to get a podium finish in the first ever BBB Tandem race if you bring it.

I think we have a winner ๐
does anyone know when the bbb is??? ๐
i think it is the week end of 20/21 august .
hoping to make it again if back from france .
if we do , will bring some sponsorship gifts .
great week end , highly recommanded for the whole family . we have 3 yound kids ( 7 , 4 and 2 ) and theyloved it last year .
Jedi - It is the weekend of August 21st and 22nd this year although you can turn up on the Friday if you want to.
If you fancy mixing a bit of business and pleasure you could do a tips and tricks session. There is a bit of baby-shore being built to complement the new tracks so you would have somewhere to show off.
Email me and we can discuss this off the forum if you fancy coming
I can't believe WCA let this fall of the front page.
It never happened in the olden days
WorldClassAccident - MemberTandems are welcome - you are likly to get a podium finish in the first ever BBB Tandem race if you bring it.
Is there a super veterans class for us to win?
TJ - I can assure you that you will win a prize if you come (with or without the tandem).
We normally have 3 race categories:
Race whippets for people who care about racing
1 lap and 2 laps for everyone else who is only really racing their mates anyway.
Is there a super veterans class for us to win?
I think you'll find that we're not that different in ages T.J ๐
Oooooh I wonder if singlespeedstu has seen this thread?
Is the date above August bank holiday?
Think it is the weekend before the Bank Hol. Hope so, because then there's a good chance I can actually make it to this one.
Not sure if thats when I'm in France, hope not...quite fancy my first bbb!
Wow! WCA you da man ๐
21st and 22nd august eh...... i'll see what i can do ๐
It is the weekend before the bank holiday.
It is the same weekend as Bournemouth International Air-show so you get to see all the old planes too. We had a formation fly past by the red arrows at the start of the prize giving the first year.
ooh. I quite fancy this for our annual trip "somewhere" (where our wives set us free for one weekend a year)
what is the beer/ bike ratio? Should I bring 6 inches or 0 inches ? Is it -er - any good??
Dancake - Events such as pint to pint racing allow you to combine beer and bikes. Malt loaf eating doesn't include either bikes or beer.
In terms of what to bring, 6 inches is fine, 0 is fine too, wife is fine too. There is nothing too challenging in terms of big rocks or drops so if you are only bringing the 1 bike I would go for less that a 6 inch downhiller.
I normally take my XC bike and SS and this year will be bringing my jump bike too. Having said that I rarely get to ride so most the time they are lent out to other people.
sold
I hope it was his comment and not my picture that sold it to you ๐
WorldClassAccident - MemberJedi - It is the weekend of August 21st and 22nd this year although you can turn up on the Friday if you want to.
Not the 20th and 21st then ... ?
Okay then, I didn't read the website. apparently the correct details are at www.bigbikebash.co.uk
Anywhere I can have a look at the pics from last year.?
There are various pictures and feedback from last year here : http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh-warning-that-stuff-content
I have been watching the lake jump vid at the top of google.
Isn't that water a bit..shallow??
Who needs more than 5 feet of water?
I shall speak to swmbo. Its one heck of a long way for us for a weekend. Looks like fun tho
TJ - You can stay at the camp site for longer. Last year a few families cam down for a week or a fortnight with the BBB at the start or end of the holiday. You will have to pay for the extra days directly with Avon Tyrrell but they are cheaper than most camp sites and you get full use of the trails and other facilities.
If you fly down from Scotland to Southampton I can lend you some bikes while your down.
long way tsss pansy, some people cross borders and sea to come to the BBB
Apparently if the mods ask, I totally didn't mention this, which would really help people preparing for this. Or many other summer endurance events.
iDave - do you want a trade stand?
If the mods ask I think its terrible that this thread is sitting at the top of the forum, I think its even more terrible i can't come as I'm over in Italy.
Good luck with it - will plan my holidays better in future
Enjoy Italy. We will post some BBB pics up here so you can see what your missing.
