Just finished riding the Wessex Ridgeway through Dorset - a beautiful 58-miler with an overnight stop halfway. Not technical at all but an enjoyable ride nonetheless.
Does anyone have any suggestions for similar two-day point-to-point jaunts? Don't have to be in the south. Anything between 50 and 80 miles would do. Thoughts much appreciated!

pennine bridleway - start as far south as you dare the cycle northwards and take one half of the mary townley loop. perhaps cut off at gorple reservoir and head over to haworth for the night (we used to use the YHA), or find somewhere closer to the route (Haworth adds on 7 or 8 miles each way but does include some good descents). On day two, continue round the MT loop then retrace the PB down to your start point

2/3rds of the sdw? Start at QECP, ride to near Brighton and then onto Eastbourne the next day?

Some ideas here. There's plenty of potential there for some monster multi-day expeds...

Ride a segment of EWE?

Route here: http://www.aidanharding.com/ewe/route/

Most of it is awesome.

Only exceptions are: the bit from Machynlleth to the English border needs some revision, and Wenlock Edge to Cannock is dull due to lack of hills.

The Great Glen Way is nice. About 80 miles, fairly easy to do in a couple of days. Not really technical at all, but a bit hilly.

SDW is obvious one. Fairly easy to plot a route from Dorking (train station) via Surrey Hills (for a it of a play) then to Chichester and Coast via Downs Link, two days would be comfortable.

As much of the West Highland Way as you can stomach? 80 miles could get you up to Kinlochleven from Milngavie, although if you're at Kinlochleven there really is no point in not riding the remaining 13 miles to Fort William.

Halfway point is probably Crianlarich or Tyndrum, although I'd suggest Tyndrum as the descent to Crianlarich from the Way is a waste of a descent as you'd be back up it the following day.

thanks all, good ideas! Yes may well be ill, having just done the Exmouth Exodus 109-miler through the night (albeit on a road bike...)
