So, Mrs Druidh announces she has a few days holidays left to take this year and I can, should I wish, take off for an extended break. Trouble is, this'll be November. Now, I lurve Scotland, but I'm thinking that it's gonna be dark early and could be damp and cold.

So, what cheap options are there? Should I head down to Southern Englandshire in the hope of some better weather and extended daylight? Do a multi-day cycle tour on the roads or a few off-road routes?

Or MTFU, head North and hope for one of those winter Highs and crystal-clear air?

Gimme some ideas.....

Go and stay with Paddy and Maureen at Chapleton Steading self catering place. Its lovely and right on the national cycle way in Boat of Garten just outside of Aviemore. Its a great base and we go to regularly. You can ride everywhere from the house either into the forests or up into the gorms. You might even get a ski late November!! House site listed at www.boatofgarten.com

I wouldn't usually put cheap and Southern England in the same sentence but a short break in the South West peninsula wouldn't be a hardship.

Goan - I was thinking about Ireland earlier this year, but looking at an E2E. Might save myself for that.

Who is in the SW (Devon-ish) and could tell me what the prevailing weather is like at that time of year?
