It is a thing of beauty, but also of expensiveness and huge size. 😀

Thanks for the (unsolicited I might add, given recent comments) bump PP. Price is potentially negotiable, especially if you don't want the dyno hub and light, that's a lot of cash tied up right there. Supernova E3 light is around £200, the Schmidt hub is around £170. So if you don't want those bits it'll bring the price down a fair bit.

I do but they're all on a hard drive which is not where I am now. Will get them up on the Flickr this evening.

erm....it looks to my untrained eye like a bike from the 1940s with discs on.

I'm sure it's very nice though. It would look great in a photo parked out the front of a quaint Peak District tea room.

I like the aesthetics of Sam's bikes a lot. They are properly timeless - less twee than the likes of Rivendell or Velo Orange, and easier on the eye than a sludge-coloured Surly. The luggage on that one is a bit OTT (it's Berthoud stuff isn't it?) but I bet it works well, and I'm sure the bike would look fine with modern style panniers too.

That's a bargain - the dynamo set up is worth £250 alone!

If I didn't already own two touring bikes I'd be raiding the piggy bank.

Tyres are a bit narrow for roughstuff though 😉

No problem SC, it can also take tyres like this...

[img] [/img] though obviously without the mudguards... you can get 37's on there with guards.

rear disc hub = shimano cassette pattern, unless you go down the Miche/Ambrosio cassette route which is pretty restrictive in terms of size.

10 spd Ergos work perfectly with 8spd Shimano.

I'd say it's very right; comfort, ergonomics and tidy cable nature of Campag ergos, reliability and bulletproofness of 8speed Shimano. Yes, I've stocked up on 8 speed cassettes and 10 speed old shape shifters...
