Nice pics sir, but shot a wedding today and hit 2232 🙁

They'll be edited down to about 300 - every shot gets taken at least twice for the blinkers / odd facial expressions. No idea how my grandad managed with film (also a wedding photographer, but presented about 20 shots in an album as opposed to 300 on disc)!

P.S. I can only see two...

EDIT; oh four in a montage, I gets ya blood.

User: You must spend days in PP!
2000 is the most I've shot (minus those I edit along the way) are at London Jewish weddings with 250- 350 people at the Dorchester (for example) and these are typically 15hr days. My assistant, on big jobs like that, takes about 1000 too.

I don't need to tell you: it's simply too may!

No way dude - I don't delete anything on the day unless it's very obvious that something's gone horribly wrong.

15 hour days? Sorry man but you're the one going wrong... Claim your life back 🙂 I stay for eight hours or less. Tops two days editing and processing. Album design takes perhaps a day (on a bad day).

Mind you, add in 24 hours meeting, booking, re-meeting and going over a checklist, backing up onto DVD and external hard drives, cleaning and servicing kit and my pricing structure needs some work 😐

EDIT; sorry SFB - hijack unintended.

You do, have a problem that is, in your case you are a cold and timid soul who knows neither victory nor defeat 😀

And thanks for a great ride today.

Throw enough darts and you're almost sure to hit a bulls-eye

but surely that's a good thing ? If anyone can get great shots with the scattergun approach, that's very democratic 🙂

8hrs - that's why you don't get the big Jewish and Greek weddings (think £££££) as they require you all of their day, not part of your day.

PS- Who calls each other Dude now the 60's are long gone!

That place looks great. Is that correct, Little Langdale?

Is that correct, Little Langdale?

yes, if you head from the wide ford below the village towards Hodge Close, there's a narrow gap in the wall on the right about 50m short of the first gate. A sign just says "Danger, quarry workings", go up to the left about 100m to a hard standing outside the upper adit entrance:

At first the roof is too low to ride, but after a little way it lifts, and after about 150m or so, there's a side cavern you can visit (if you climb over the fence) and then you have to lift your bikes over some boulders into a large open-rooved chamber, where you have to scramble down about 10m to the lower level:

when you can ride into the main cavern shown above. A short adit emerges between the ford and Salter Bridge.

Oh, and you'll need lights, it's utter pitch dark!

Talent?

there's not much difference between the media in terms of handling exposure, particularly as we've been told wedding snappers often use manual to ensure matching density between shots under relatively stable lighting conditions

Dealing with the quirks of the medium ranks as skill IMO.

take a bow that man!

thanks, it is gratifying when they come out so well, but there's a big luck factor for me, as everything has to be done in a mad dash before the others get bored 🙂

in the days of 35mm and large format, we called it bracketing the exposure, ie take 1 normal, 1 slightly more exposed and 1 slightly less exposed and hope 1 was OK

it's still called that, but you can turn a dial and get 3, 5, 7 or 9 exposures and pick the size of the exposure difference 🙂

Really like the pics but 1283 shots ?

Your riding mates must have a helluva boredom threshold 😕

that's the whole point, they don't, so if I am to take pics it has to be integrated into the flow of the ride 🙂

this is too perceptive, I want the old ranty invective kaesae back!

@sfb sorry sunshine 6 months into my back treatment and only 4 to 6 months to go until I'm fully healed. My IQ has soared to well over 100 I can spell and my brain functions now, almost.

I agree the best part of biking is the exploration.
