t'other night while pootling round delamere on the regular (for some folks) night ride. I clocked a couple of guys within the group riding gary fisher single speed 29ers.

Mentioned to one of them that I'd never ridden one of those types of bike before and he asked me if I fancied a go, so we swapped rides for a bit.

After getting over the "I'm eleventeen foot in the air feeling" and the mahoosive front wheel/tyre combo it was actually quite fun to ride, it just seemed to roll over roots without trying and even though it was a single speed it wasn't that hard to get up hills either!!

Nice

I've got a Fisher Rig and it's bloomin' brilliant.
When I first got it I timed myself doing a run down Summer Lightening (I use it to see how my riding is progressing) and acually managed it faster than on my fully geared 26" hardtail. It rolls over everything and the big wheels seem to hold momentum better.

and yep, the still muddy for monday night niche bikes were fun - plus we didn't get lost without our usual escorts!
