Testing out my new GoPro Hero HD. Obviously the quality on what I uploaded to YouTube is massively reduced - viewed full res on an HD telly, the imaged is stunning. This video hasn't been processed at all other than cutting and compressing for the tube. It's also not a masterpiece, just a rough cut.
For those who were asking in previous threads about how it handles poor light, I've got differing light conditions from bright sunlight to practically dark. Quality does suffer as light fades, but it's not too bad considering.
The camera was in various positions including underneath the downtube, on the stem, on the seatpost and on a chest mount.
Oh, and there's Bluebells in a bit of it too!
good that, but I'm out on account of the music - soz
love it, how much is a decent riding cam then?
Good vid, where abouts?
I'm dissapointed. From the title, I was expecting a something a little more golden ๐
Good vid though (no sound at work). liking the different positions.
Ditto IR.
Please use 'small' when something is small and 'wee' when something is flowing and golden. It avoids confusing us south of the border. ๐
Different positions are always a winner though. ๐
That's all filmed in the flat badlands of Essex - the Olympic MTB destination!
OK, it's not where the MTB course is, but it is Essex
Essex - the Olympic MTB destination
Yes this a great claim to fame for us in the birthplace of the Ford Escort and stilletos blanco.
Where is this then (i understand if its a secret ;))
It's all in Danbury - most of what's in teh vid in on the Common
Looks pretty good. That horse playing the guitar is a bit off-putting mind.
Are you dissing the legend that is Mr Vai? ๐
The common is in fantastic ondition at the moment retro, the drop off on the right track was a bit of a surprise a few weeks back - bit of a bigger drop than I remembered!
Shame about the run on the outside from the carpark down to Gay Bower Lane* being rerouted though
*stop s****ing at the back
I like riding in Danbury too.
But the music in your video was not to my taste.
I don't like how most videos have the original sound thrown out and some random rock / hip hop put over it all... it's like cycling with headphones on! Sorry, I hate it. Leave the original sound on the video, or if you must mix in some music as well, but dip it in and out. Let us hear some of the riding. Otherwise, I may as well just turn off the sound and put on a record I like! Pointless.
Fork sag doesn't seem right. Nice video though.
With the sound down I have watched it all the way thru now.
Where are you riding after the golf course/ quarry bluebells bit ? I think it was the first time you are pointing the camera at your rear.. I dont seem to recognize that bit.
Nice little video. The sound of tyres crunching along would have been better.
Nice vid, looks like my kind of place to ride - fun! If chest cam was pointed up a bit I think that'd be the best angle. A tip I've read is to put the camera in upside down but set it to flip vertically so the footage doesn't come out as upside down. Apparently puts it at a better angle in the chest mount.
You should be able to get way better quality than that on youtube though - how are you exporting it? If you export or transcode to MP4 on the H264 codec with slightly reduced quality (say 80%) you should still have a reasonably sized file with far less quality deterioration ๐ Oh and keep it in 1080p/720p frame size!
Leave the original sound on the video
It usually sounds rubbish though, because of the effect of air blowing into the mic as you travel fairly fast.
mmm.. I like Danbury. my in-laws live near Hatfield Peverel, so I get over there occasionally.
Jeez that 'music' is terrible, shall try and watch on mute now
Just did a quick convert - will look to do something better at the weekend probably - maybe with differnt sound (the recorded sound is mostly a Hope ProII reverberating through the frame, and that ain't good!)
tobyho - that'd be the bridleway into Woodham Walter common from Spring Elms Lane cunningly merging into Lingwood (fist left past the first bench)
