[Closed] I hate myself... What Tyre - Canal Path

Im so very very sorry.

My boss has asked me what tyres to purchase for his Hardrock for canal path type riding.

I've had a look around but this isn't really my forte. Obviously any tyre that is XC based I would presume but the key factor is it being 'durable', when they cut hedges and brambles if the tyre can withstand that this would be fantastic. Not bothered about weight.

Thanks for any help!

Spesh Fast Trak Armadillo Elite or something would proably be my shout, standard Armadillo to keep cost down.

My commuter bike has 1.5" Schwalbe city jets on which are good value tyres but quite slick.
Canals are mostly straight, but the slight lack of grip allows me to get radical on the odd twist and turn. Less awesome riders might need 2.5" DH Minions (super tackys) to negotiate more G-narly towpaths.

Depends on the towpath, by me we have groomed tarmac sustrans type surface while away from this it can be hub deep bog or rooty nightmare

If it doesn't have serious protection then tubeless - a god-send round hawthorn cutting time. Also good for sucking up fishing hooks ๐Ÿ™‚

Completely depends on the tow path.

I used the cheapest slicks I could find on my towpath commute from Saltaire to Leeds. If I had been going from Saltaire to Skipton I would have wanted a different tyre...

Marathon Plus too but I wouldn't want to use them on muddy sections as Funky Dunc points out.
Whatever tyre ensure it has some kind of puncture protection as tow paths are great places for picking up thorn punctures.
