Hiya,
I moved to Wormit from Los Angeles in October (wife got a job at U of Dundee). I'm looking for a local enduro-style trail for setup tuning purposes. It can be QUITE short; I just need a short rough section I can session while trying different settings. Something with terrain like Ballo Wood, but ideally within riding distance of Wormit.
Does such a thing exist? I checked out the woods east of Gauldry, but the trails were too flat and pristine. I looked at the dirt jumps nearby, but they're more "hucking" than "descending" terrain.
Cheers!
How much riding distance are we talking? Kemback Woods is the closest thing I can think of, around ten miles ride away. It's surprisingly good, the trails have been built up over years and years. Some are more enduro style, some fairly tame. There's a pretty spicy one that was built by Seb from MBUK magazine called Thunder but last time I was there it was quite vague.
Really it'd need someone to show you round to get the best out of it- some of the Dundee Uni cycling club riders go there occasionally. I would have recommended teaming up with someone from St Andrews uni club but it's being disbanded.
Oh, Kemback sounds promising! 10 miles is probably farther than I want to ride to get there, but that's fine--still a much easier commute than Ballo. THANKS!
Have a look here:

See the loop just south of Bottom Craig?
There's some decent, steepish bits with drops and turns been dug in - someone has done a good job.
Might not be steep enough, but might be - an very close to Wormit!
See, told you they were a useful bunch on here ๐
Aha, thanks guitarhero! I will definitely check that out.
@ Shackleton: yerp!
I don't normally ride there (though I grew up in Balmullo). Was a visiting a pal in Wormit and we went out. Supposedly that section didn't exist a couple of months ago so it's lockdown-fresh.
Please ignore any rubbish section times by me, was riding my gravel bike!
Just to follow up--haven't made it to Kemback yet, but finally took a peek at Bottomcraig yesterday while riding by on a road ride. It's more substantial/longer than I was expecting--definitely worth bringing the MTB out. Thanks!
