Anybody got any experience of Hunt wheelsets? Are the y as good as people say?
Also what would be recommended for my Solaris Max which I use for mostly XC riding, commuting but with the and some Llandegla/Whinlatter red runs? I like the look of the XC trail wide set but they only have 25mm width. Would it matter?
My Enduro Wide have been great. On a hardtail so potentially a tougher life for the rear wheel than on full suspension bike.
Still true, bearing super-smooth and finish is hard wearing too!
Just had a quick spin on my new trail wides,they feel responsive and smooth, better than stans arch s1s which felt a bit numb compared. Don't think you can go wrong for the money .
They’ve transformed my Scott spark. The oem wheels were over 2.5kg! Bought a set of 29 xc wides which are around 1.7kg, so the weight saving makes a massive difference. They look and feel great and for the money they are fantastic. Plus they sound like much more expensive wheels with that lovely freehub purr 😀
Also interested in some 29er Hunt rims (for commuting/trail/XC ie 2.2 - 2.7 if poss)
I bent my 30mm rear one within 3 rides. Got it trued snd has been ok since.
Have 2 sets , one set on the good road bike and another set of 650b on the gravel , both sets excellent and recommended

Trails on my flare max . 6 months use with no issues
Another happy user of XC wides here. Used with 2.3 -2.5 tyres. Take far more abuse than I ougth to give them. I'd deffo buy another set if I had to.

Ten months on my Trail Wides, been cased and clattered through some shocking riding and they’ve been perfect. Took the end caps off to look at bearings last week and they’re spotlessly clean inside.

Any comments on the 25mm width over 30mm? I wanted the trail wides but they only come in boost so the only other option was the XC in 25mm
I used Hunt Trail Wides on my old bike, they were faultless. I’ll definitely get some more when I get round to it. Their build quality and attention to detail is top drawer.
If using for commuting in winter watch out for the alloy nipple sets as they’re unlikely to do well in that. The road set I have on my commuter have brass nipples but most MTB ones are alloy I think. I’ve got 4 sets of hunt wheels now and they’ve been great, and first rate customer service too.
Faultless set of Enduro Wide wheels on my Cotic RocketMAX. Done a week with BasqueMTB, trip to BPW and more general local rides in the Peak and haven’t needed a moments attention. As others have said, first rate customer service too. Next time I need a set of wheels I’ll be getting another pair from them.
Pleased with my Trail Wides. Heaps better than the AlexRims wheelset they replaced.
I will probably buy some for my gravel bike too, soon.
6 months in on trail wides and very happy with my decision. Now contemplating a set of their all season road wheels for my commuter.
25mm will be fine. Arch Mk3 are only 26, and Flows used to be 27.
Running 2 sets on my Soda max. XC wide with 29 x 2.4 and enduro with 27.5 plus. Both sets have been faultless in all conditions. Just about to order a set of 4 season for the gravel bike too.
Would definitely recommend.

I got some trail wide 27.5 a couple of weeks ago for my new build hardtail. Great service and I can’t fault the quality. 33mm wife with 2.8 tyres. I’m lucky enough to have DTSwiss XRC wheels but won’t ever spend like that again when there are products like this about. XC Race wheels look great too.

Ooof. I just looked what were amongst the best tested. I think we’ve been missing a trick there. Time to restart some programmes now we have mountain bike ones getting back on track.

Are they not built from the same components? That isn’t a criticism, I have Enduro Wide. They are really well made wheels. Pondering some lighter ones for next summer

I've absolutely no idea why hambini uses such vile hatred when discussing the flaws he believes are there from companies.

How ever I came across hambini because of the legal action Flo tried to start against his company alerting management of the company to miss use of company property.....not realising the guy doing the research was infact the owner .

Every week Hunt get a mention or a thread. Are they really that good, or are they just milking the forum?
Some people think they're good, some think they're just overpriced, rebranded Chinese rubbish.
In truth, I've only heard bad reports about them on here, BikeRadar and a guy on a Facebook group with a pathological hatred of them! The people I know who use their wheels really rate them, myself included so I reckon they must be doing something right.
They don't spam the forum that I'm aware.
I know they have a glowing reputation but I only know two people who own them and both have had issues with durability.
Basically the enduro wheels not being as burly as expected.
Customer service is reportedly superb though.
Doesn't that 36h rear kinda limit your rim replacement options.

As they use rebranded novatec hubs so are the rims real quality as there is some stuff competition around the 350 mark
The hubs are not just rebranded, but built by Novatec to the design wanted by Hunt. So they have adapted a Novatec hub to their requirements to make them better and unique to them. Probably changes to sealing and bearing quality. That is my understanding.
People just calling them rebranded is a bit of a disservice I think and certainly not the only people to use Novatec hubs.
For the price and customer service, it is a very competitive package.
I have two pairs, one on the gravel bike, other on MTB and I can't fault them for the price.
Hunts seem to get a bit of bad press and a lot of good press.
I’ve two mates with them and one is very happy, the other not so due to movement in the hubs.
Are they as good as Enve on CK hubs? I honestly don’t know - but most would think it’s a no brainier and of course they aren’t.
What do we want in wheels? Light, durable, safe etc - personally I’d say you get this with Hunt or Prime etc and I’d be more inclined to buy these over importing direct from China.
Two mates have the Enduro wheels and overall they seem to be decent
One is pretty heavy on gear and he's put a couple of small dents in the rim, but nothing too bad - approx 6 months worth of riding
The other managed to put a really bad dent in the rim - it pretty much folded flat onto the rim bed. He was probably running pressure a little low and only had EXO Maxxis fitted. He took it to Hunt to get a replacement and I'm told they replaced it an exceptionally reasonable price, I think while he waited
Just bumping this...... anyone put some serious miles down yet in our lovely winter rain and grime? How are the hubs in terms of maintenance and reliability?

They've probably done 10k+ miles including Paris Roubaix a couple of times, Tour of Flanders, Swinley blue and red loops numerous times along with general commuting and they're still perfectly true.
On that basis I'd say they're pretty reliable.
Enduro wides here, had them since may, they've survived morzine, local North Wales and have been fault less so far, including some hub deep puddles at Nant Y arian
I’ve done about 4,000 miles on a set of the four seasons. Running fine.
