This is the second one i've seen missing the chainstays.
Do they break easily or is it evidence of naughty behaviour with the bolt cutters etc?
Spesh have excellent (at least 10 years iirc) frame warranty (to the original owner). Unless I had bought it 2nd hand and then broke the chainstay, there's no way I would just be selling the frame for that price. I have always locked my bikes up through the front triangle because you can just undo the chainstay/seatstay pivot bolts and leave the back wheel otherwise! So unlikely it was nicked, any self respecting bike thief would have just undone the rear triangle and made off with an undamaged frame.
reason i ask.. work bonus is burning a hole
