HTII damage - terminal?

Following on from my rounded bolt thread, I've had a bit of a mare with my cranks today. There's damage to the rear of the driveside crank, the metal's damaged and I can hook a fingernail into it to gauge depth. Probably no worse that a rock strike or dropped chain, but do I need new cranks or can I ride them (assuming I can get them off!!)?

I'd ditch them for the TJ sticker.

Damage is not an issue though 🙂

Assuming we are talking about the scuff on the right hand edge that would not bother me.

That wouldn’t concern me in the slightest.

That's good to know. As above I can catch a thumbnail in it so it's not just the anodizing but it's not deep.

I've taken bigger chunks than that out of every set of cranks I've ever had on the first ride. Don't sweat it!

Mine have been worse than that for years.

Nicks and chips can start crack propagation and if that's a proper hollow crank the wall thickness won't be huge.

Having said that, I'd ride it but just keep a closer eye on it for a crack starting.

Mine have a few chunks that size and are fine.
