My beloved gold hope xc hub was rebuilt by hope with a new ratchet, but after a year the ratchet has started to spin round in the hub. Hope have no more xc hubs so is dead as far as they're concerned. Due to the still great condition of the Ti freehub (far better nick after 6 years than my 6month alloy version), new bearings and true rim I was wondering if I could save the wheel by fixing the ratchet into the hub somehow. I believe the originals are held just by heating the alloy hub enough to squeeze the steel ratchet in then once it cools down it clamps tight enough to hold. Was thinking about creating some sort of grub screw by drilling through the hub and into the ratchet, or may be some sort of key slot between the interface, plus some metal glue for good measure.
Any thoughts welcome, or anyone with a 32 hole disc xc hub for sale, let me know,
Cheers
Just heated it up and got the ratchet out and it seams it is screwed in and the threads in the hub have stripped. May try filling it with metal glue and pushing it back together...
Or if you want bin the hub and sell me the Ti freehub. ๐
