Hi guys Im in living Mossley just out side Manchester
And was wondering if there was a train I could get
That would get me close to lee quarry ?
Any help much apresheated ๐
Into Manchester then out is the only way, still a ride at the end. Or...
Canal to Ashton, canal to Man City, turn right, canal back up to Failsworth, stay on canal through Middleton, Castleton, to Rochdale, then up Rooley Moor road and across to Lee and Cragg quarry. About 30 or so miles? Then Bacup, Rochdale, Milnrow, Shaw, Grains Bar, Delph, Uppermill, and home to bed.
Nice day out, Gromit.
Nearest stations are Walsden or (slightly further away) Todmorden.
Both these are at least 6 miles from Lee Quarry though.
From Mossley you could follow the canal up to the Marsden Road then take Pennine Bridleway to Lee Quarry - or to Cragg Quarry and Rooley Moor road, which is just above Lee Quarry
Hi guys thank you for the help I been
Buying the mtb mags and there always some
Story about lee quarry looks like a lot of fun
But other worry is I only got a hardtail
It's just a 3700 trek 2011 model with tektro v brakes
Then get on the road and ride there!
Mossley-Lydgate-Platting road-that back road past the Roebuck Inn to Grains Bar-Shaw-Milnrow-Rochdale-Whitworth-Almost to Bacup-Lee Quarry.
About 1 and a half hours if you crack on.
How long is a lap of lee/cragg quarry. My usual ride takes me up the canal to smithybridge than ill have a play on bridle ways around there. All in all about 30 miles. Just tryna figure out if its worth the extra milage.
