[#2954143]

Went out with the nipper earlier with him riding in the trailer behind my bike and I got a bit too complacent (been out rather alot with him lately)and took a corner a bit too sharp and fast and the next thing the trailer flipped and he's half out being dragged down the road.
He is ok but has a huge grazed lump on the side of his head and a torn jacket!!!
Mum is right pissed off with me also.

I feel totally miserable for the little lad and can truly say that I will take it much easier from now on.....

Easily done, one of the other Dads at school forgot he had a traierbiker on the back a couple of weeks ago and bunny hopped a log on a trail rather than riding round it, 4 yo on the back (and he) ended up in a hedge.

Both were relatively unscathed.

Hope donks Jnr is ok.

aye, which buggy are you using? Ive rolled Stoner Jr Sr in our Croozer and his 5-point has kept him perfectly fine, in fact by the time Id got to the back to check him out he was giggling. Upside down.

Fortunately Mrs Stoner rolled Stoner Jr Jr a few weeks ago so we're even according to the NSPCC.

Ouch, I hope it doesn't put the little fella off.

Don't feel too bad, I took the whole family out on some lovely forest trails, I was leading a bit too fast, first my 7 year son old stacks it pretty bad, luckily just a few tears and no broken bones, phew... got away with that one, and then the Mother in-law goes over the handlebars, again no broken bones but pretty shook up. I wasn't popular. You forget how dangerous it can be.

The buggy is an explorer bumper the single version. It's been really good TBH and until now has been very stable, i think this was half the issue as I have got very confident with it....and I am very guilty of taking the boy out without a lid, although thankfully he was strapped in albeit a bit on the loose side. All is ok anyway as we went out for a while just now and he has pretty much forgotten about everything....mum hasn't though.

you need one of these. an acquaintance has one and it's awesome.

200mm of travel. tracks perfectly behind the bike like a BOB YAK trailer.

i know a World Cup 4X profi who has one and straps his daughter in it for training rides.

im getting the bumper explorer next weekend but the duo version as i can get it v.cheap and has the best trailer to buggy conversion without the stupid arm being used

is anyone using a trailer on a frame with a cowled style rear dropout as it seems to put the mounting arm spring at a really odd angle?

Really like that and the fact it attaches to the seat post so no need to attach to the drop outs like most trailers is good. Must cost a few quid though.

I have a single speed and the trailer attaches pretty easily but you might struggle with cowled dropouts due to the bracket needing to fit flat against the drop outs, The spring works really well though and can be bent at quite an angle and still work ok.

Does the buggy in question have a 5 point harness? I'd be annoyed if my kid fell out.

hmm may have to sway over to the other frame then ods of being used on my ss road bike are low anyway and the slicked mtb/utility has flat dropouts.
it should be fine to get it home with no weight on tho
i belive it is a 3 point harness and a waist strap so esentualy a kind of 5 point lol

Like others I've rolled a trailer and no harm done, as little one was held in by the 5 point harness - your problem was not having him in tight enough. No lid in the trailer out of choice as when properly strapped in he's not going to hit his head on anything - why the guilt over lack of lid, when you should be feeling guilty for not strapping in properly?

is anyone using a trailer on a frame with a cowled style rear dropout as it seems to put the mounting arm spring at a really odd angle?

I use a Chariot with one - had to attack the bracket with a file to get it to fit at all, but now no problem.

Been there, done that, luckly my girl was fine and my wife had a good day so she took it very well. My son took great pleasure in 'telling' on me!

There seems to be a lot of people rolling trailers on here.....
