Looking at, on a custom gravel build, a pair of Hope Pro5 XD with 20Five rims. Keen on real world experiences please.
Impressed with my 20Fives on Pro4. As with all the Hope wheel sets I've had - great performance, no dramas.
Many thanks
Using Hope Fortus on my hack. No issues & have never needed trued despite me being a clumsy rider. I'd definitely have another set.
I have a set of Pro4 s on 20fives
They are very boring. They just work. Which is what I wanted
This is all good to read, getting my proposed spec finished (see also my SRAM mullet gearing post..), think I’m just about there now with it..

Sums up my experience of mine. Rear on my 20five set started feeling ropey, replaced all the bearings and freehub seal on it in about half an hour and they work as new again. I try not to be careful with wheels, these still run nice and true after 3 years of abuse.
I've got a pair, I'm happy with them. If anything they are a bit understated, I should have gone for the sticker option!
As above really. Can't look past Hope for wheels personally.
Related question... Any good prices on MTB wheelsets anywhere? Pro 4 or 5 not fussed.
20Fives on RS4 CL and they’ve been perfect. Not the lightest wheels, but not bad. They just work
I used mine for commuting for 4 years. As above all good until the rear cracked at multiple spoke holes. Hope said well outside warranty.
Had wheels rebuilt using same Pro 4 hubs but used DT Swiss R470db rims which were half the price of 20fives!

For pro4 it looks to be about £300, for pro5 about 500(though usually a bit cheaper if you shop around.
Great feedback, thanks, that’s the wheels sorted !
I have a set on my surly, still running true after 5 years, not a huge amount of miles, but a lot of it has been heavily laden.
Nothing to report, they just keep working.
