I'm about to change brakes from xt's and was thinking about tech M4's. Any opinions on performance etc ?

Yes, had them for a few months now. I like them. Lots of power and superb feel. The levers are bulky and have compatability issues with certain shifters. They work with the new M970 XTR but not my older M952 XTR.
I haven't really used other brakes so it would be unfair for me to comment against other brands. I've never had problems with fade or heat build up either with the previous Mono4 or even XC4.

Awesome brakes !!!! had several juicys , XT's , elixirs .... these beat them all hands down .

another pic to help you along ... BTW 10% extra off them at CRC to midnight tonight.

Would you rate them higher than Formula's The One (if you happen to have used these?). Been waiting for a set of these for my Enduro for the past 3 months, getting sick of waitin 🙄

I have an M4 front and X2 rear that replaced my juicys, seem more positive, with no drag that I used to get with the avids. I like the lever feel and lever adjustability/pad contact is easier to set up, they feel so solid. Lever setup sees them along way inboard, I use the Hope matchmaker style clamp with SRAM XO shifters and they feel perfect.

Recommend them? Oh yes.

I have them think they are really good mate these are from last year so are "just M4's) But i prefer them to my juicy sevens and xt discs every time.

V2's , but they are more DH/FR brakes with the weight penalty obviously .

Probably not a great difference but the V2's have 2 massive pistons , the M4 have 4 smaller. The M4 brakes are beautiful for AM and will do 95% of DH/FR too .

I had the new tech V2's... perfect adjustment (same lever as the new tech M4) daft amount of power. I think Hope have got it spot on with the new tech's the new tech v2's are far better than the older moto's.

i px'd my V2's for Tech M4's, fwiw.

less all out power but way superior for trail use.

V2's are probably overkill for an Enduro I guess ('All Mountain' stylee bike). Do the hopes still squeal like gutted pigs (that's what put me off them a while back, moved to Formula's and they hardly squeal at all)... maybe I should go for the M4's instead of The One's, much better support I guess then Formula that's for sure 😀

I've got M4's on my SS, and M4 Monos on my h/tail, and both have been faultless. They're both around six years old and neither have had anything done to them, apart from bleeding the M4's a couple of years ago. They've even got the original pads in.

I run Tech M4's on my Five and they are probably the best brakes I have ever used. The lever shape is spot on, they work fine with my M770 XT shifters and there is tons of adjustment.

I've used them for everything from All Mountain through to full on DH and never once felt I needed any more power.

I bought both of mine of offers at separate times and never paid more than £148 and that's with braided hoses and floating rotors.

Highly recommended!

What floating rotors go with the Tech M4's btw? seems confusing on CRC's website... maybe I'm just daft 🙄

Hope floating rotors. I believe CRC has no stock so that might be messing you up.
