So it seems my rear Shimano brake caliper has died - went to use it this morning and it just honks louder the harder you pull the lever with minimal stopping power. Luckily the front is still ok. It’s probably 3 years old ish and it looks like they have succumbed to micro leaks - bl**dy Shimano - sort your seals out!

So looking to get an RX4 caliper - went to browse them and found they have now launched RX4+ calipers. I thought I knew what I needed but now I’m slightly unsure. I have a Cannondale Caad12 disc with a BR505 flat mount rear caliper. It originally had R505 stis and the hoses are still the ones that came on the bike. Rotors are 160mm Shimano ones.

Which RX4+ Caliper do I need and will it use the same hose fittings or do I need to do something with hoses?

Thanks for any pointers in advance

caliper comes with caliper end hose fittings to use your original hose, if it's long enough once you've cut off the original fittings. As far as which caliper, you can go for the standard front or rear flat mount caliper (which are universal front or rear) and use a seperate +20 rear bracket (cos flat mount is 140mm standard), or you can use their specific flat mount rear caliper which has the +20 already built in to fit your 160 rotor. Make sure you get the mineral fluid version mind!

They are definitely more powerful than the shimano ones, but i find them much harder to bleed and centre than a shimano one...

Cool - hopefully the cable is long enough otherwise I’ll be fighting with stupid non guided internal routing and therefore have to take the cranks off etc (lots of di2 wires around there + a junction b box.

Will defo get the mineral oil one - sounds like I want the rear flat mount +20 version that doesn’t need an adapter for 160mm discs. Hoping the front doesn’t go whilst on this bike as it’s got a post mount fork and at some point I’d like to swap to a caad 13 frame set which is flat mount front.
