F&R hubs in need of some TLC. Can I get generic bearings to do the job or do I need the Hope specific ones ?

If so, where, how, why, when etc, etc.

Ta and stuff.

You can get "generic" bearings. I usually source mine from EBay but you may have a bearing supplier nearby that you could pop into get some. You'll need:

Front
2x 61804 2RS

Rear
1x 61902 2RS
2x 61802 2RS
2x 61903 2RS

Go for a good quality brand like INA or SKF.

Bearing shop Exeter. I think it's Alphinbrook Rd? 1/2m from Del anyway.

As I'm in the market too at the mo - do letters in front or at the end matter? Just searched for 61804 2RS on a local suppliers website and came up with an SKF option of SKF618042RS1

I use BETD, and very good they seem to be too.
Worth popping the seals off carefully and adding more grease.

The cheap Ebay one's last me about a month in the winter, they even feel cheap. The expensive Ebay one's are the £10 SKF's which work out rediculously expensive.

I found the o/e (INA) Hope one's a good compromise at about £5 each from 18bike.

FWIW, the genuine Hope tools are well worth the money.
