I'm getting to quite like Hope stuff after rebuilding some pro IIs, and need to upgrade the wheels on my commuter. 40 mile round trip each day, so they'll get a fair bit of use and I want something reliable. Anything will be an improvement over the 20 year old 6-speed I have right now, but is there anything else I should consider? Seems £280 is about the bare minimum any 'proper' roadies would consider spending on wheels.
If the Pro 3s came in red it'd be a done deal already...
Cheers

If the road Pro 3 is the same as the MTB one, the bearings likely won't last very long. A year for the main hub bearings for me. They're a Hope-only size too. Otherwise, my MTB Pro 3s have been pretty reliable over 2 years' use.
I use Hope Pro 3 on Mavic Open Pro on my race bike (used for touring, Sunday fun and transport/exercise). I must say that I really like them. They're not too heavy and still very stiff.
I had the hope hoops pro 3 rs mono on open pro's, fine wheel but that noisy freehub just did my head in on the road, so i ended up selling them. Have got hope hubs on my mtb, and the noise doesn't bother me off road, but I like my road bikes nice and quiet.
Great point about the freehub noise, on a mountain bike it's not too annoying, it can quickly get on your nerves on a road bike!
Definitely a point to keep in mind.
Thanks guys. My commute is mostly flat, so there's very little free-wheeling to be done. If the noise is the only problem I think I'll go for it.
Cheers
Very noisy, very stiff, feel light yet bomb proof
Still bomb proof? Mine have failed after 6 months.
