Can anyone help me out or redirect me to a video that can?

Hub's getting more quiet each ride and I'm thinking it's probably in need of a strip down and clean/new springs.

I've read a couple of old threads from this site with people saying how easy it is to do and that no special tools are needed then had a quick google and the only vid I can find makes it look like quite a complicated process. Think I'm looking at a complete strip down vid.

Have a look on the Hope website.

or is that the vid you are talking about?. It really is very simple once you get the end cap off which can be sticky if not been off for a while

New Pawls and springs? I did mine this afternoon...
Grips to get the drive side spacer cap off (I found possible after removing the cassette - chain whip and cassette tool required)
pull and twist to pull off the free hub
Degreaser/parafin/cloth to remove the old grease
needle nose pliers to remove pawls/spings and put new ones in
a little new grease.

edit:

Here's another really useful guide http://www.cyclistno1.co.uk/features/maintenance/hope-pro-ii-rear-hub-service.htm
There are some other really useful how to guides on here too, iirc they are done by someone of here too so if you read this then thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers guy's supposed to be going away with it next week.

Yeah that's the vid I'd seen. Didn't pay it much attention because I thought I was watching the wrong thing. I'll give it a go. Chain whip's grown legs tho so can't do it before I go really.

Will it be ok for a few more rides without killing me to death? Only steady XC stuff, no sickgnar.

Sure I read someone's comment that they had been riding on a quiet one for 3 years?!

3 broken springs in mine this week. getting the end caps was bit of a mare, couple loads of boiling water from the kettle soon loosened it off.
Freehub was as reluctant to shift as well ended up using more and more 2p pieces and the cassette lockring to "pull off" the freehub

A bit off topic but..

I just sent my rear wheel to Hope..

Took the back wheel off last week in Morzine and clunk..the cassette fell off...broken axle in the hub!

Anyhow sent it to Hope on Monday PM from North Scotland....Call from Hope AM Today(Tuesday)...Mechanic tells me he will replace axle and free hub body/bearings etc all under warrant and try get it sent out overnight!

Now that's service.

The wheels 2-3 years old.

Buy British..Buy Hope
