In order to fit the forks, do I just bash the steerer into the crown race? My Z2 seems to have it too fat. The headset seems to be this one:

the crown race should be a tight fit on the steerer, you should have a slight bulge just where the steerer meets the crown, this is where the race sits. IF the crown race won't go on with some gentle persuasion you may need to gently file the steerer so that the race will go on.
These things are meant to be all the same size, but tolerances being what they are, some may be a tighter fit than others.
