[Closed] Hope front hubs - Shimano XT calipers - shims?

Guys

Got a smiliar problem on 2 bikes - one a hope XC hub with some rigid carbons forks - t'other pro 2 hub with revs - both with XT calipers.

Can't seem to centre the calipers on the rotors - always seem that the rotors are a little bit too 'inbound' - towards the wheel.... feels like I need to shim them out by 1 or 2mm.

Is this a stupid idea - or have I stumbled on a common problem?

Ta

I have a Hope Pro front hub and Shimano XT brake and they work fine together.

Have you done the usual part pads, loosen calliper bolt, pull brake lever and hold, tighten said bolts and ride?

yup - done all the usual...

When loose, the caliper at it's closest to the hub - the rotor is much closer to the inner edge of the caliper - and some way off being in the middle...

Does one piston move more freely than the other when the lever is pulled? As a sticky piston could cause the pads to miss align.

I'd look to the forks and possibly put some washers on the bolts. All Hope Pro hubs should be the same width... overenthusiastic facing perhaps ?

I've been having the same problem but with a completely different setup. For the time being I have added an extra washer to the hub between the cone nuts, but i think the long term plan is to get the brake mountings on the fork trued.
Me:
Revs
Juicy 5
XT hub

EDIT: Ah sorry, just re-read and realised you are the opposite of me!

Hope sell rotor spacers for exactly this problem, a washer the size of the rotor bolt circle with 6 holes in, allows you to space the rotor off from the hub.

I also find for setting them up that it's much better to loosen the bolts, spin the wheel then nip both bolts up while the wheel turns. If you do it the official way and your pistons don't move equally (and they won't) then you can still end up with drag.

steveh - interesting - that they sell spacers for that - as that would solve my issue... will see if I can find some... (and that is how I normally centre my caliper)

Thanks all...
