I'm off on holiday today. Going to spend a week near Alicante with the kids who are there already and they are coming home with their mother a few days after I leave. I'm taking my bike and I'm going to ride home. I have no rush to be back so can happily take as long as I want or need to. Route is going to be something along the lines of Alicante > Valencia > Barcelona > Girona > Montpellier > Mt Ventoux > Lyon > Dijon > Auxerre > Paris - then decide what I want to do after that. Should hopefully be fun.
Wow, it'll be a great trip
I rode from Toulouse to Barcelona once via leucate. I highly recommend the coast road especially the Costa brava, once you're north of Lloret de Mar. Epic twisty craggy bit of coast. The dali museum in Figueres is really cool if you're going through it.
mint, absolutely mint, have a great time wannahuckaloogie.
Have you thought about starting a thread along the lines of a blog, updated daily with a pic or 2 for all us lot sat behind computers at work while you're cycling home? I always enjoy a travelogue.
Jekkyl - that's a splendid idea. I'll see what I can do.
What Pete said re Spain. Canal du midi might work too.
You could use the crazyguyonabike website. I've read loads of ride reports, but not yet been touring myself, so I haven't tried it. Apparently it's easy to update with text and photos, even when you're on the road.
Proper jealous
