Plenty of room still for those missing it. Had a word with the Recreation Manager. One of his mates, an avid biker had taken up running 6 months ago as he seriously hurt his hand at work. Normally enters in a relay team (they come first relay team, 2nd overall), but as his hand is better, and he is coming in the top 5 at the local fell races, is now entering solo 😀

Are you counting yourself as a celebrity there Mike? 😉

The caravan doesn't have a start on the door and an on-suite fluffer.

It'll be like the last one but with double the riders.

2 hours racing on a 3 1/2 mile track (20 mins for the fast, 30 mins for the rest)

Including:

Fast bits
Slow bits
Muddy bits
Some nasty climbs
Some technical descents
Mud or ice
Raised deck sections
Steps
Bagpipes (hopefully)
Hot food and drinks available
Abusive commentary on the PA

All for around £10 - £12 (we need to run the costs through as we've had to change some things)

Money raised will cover the upfront costs of the big race, and any money left at the end of that will be given away to charity. Over the last 2 years we gave away £6k.

the summer one will be 'ground breaking'.

A race the like of which has never been seen. Not on this planet anyway.

BBB was a pale southern imitation of the Northern Greatness that was HTN. Bet your BBB didn;t have Pie and Peas from the catering van with Thwaites' Lancaster Bomber on tap, did it?

Will peeps who were in the first HtN ( summer race) get first dibs to enter the one next year?

See you there Mike. They'll be room in our tent for socialising in the rain!

We'll send a mail shot to everybody who entered the first one before places go on sale for the next summer one. We're limiting the field to 300 (there were 450 at the first) to allow more space in the campsite.

We will be changing the format of the big one quite a bit... and we've booked a fire eater and a rock band.

Cheers. I'll be bringing a bigger tent next year, but not that much bigger. Knowing how close the nearest supermarket is means that I won't need to bring quite as much food on the train/bike, so should have more room for the tent.

Looking at changing the location of the lap counting/finish to just on top of the rise rather than just after the first corner. This will only make sense to those who did the sprinter last year.

Don't mind riding in filth, I just don't like camping in the rain. Well, given that I will be drinking beer and taking photos, I don't really care what the riding is like, I only care about the camping

Drinking beer at 10:00am in the park? I'll reserve you a place on a bench.
