Looking to get my 1st bike specific multitool!

At the moment getting away with a set of allen keys and other seperate tools. I need a chain splitting tool anyway so thought what better time to get a multitool with a chain tool included.

Not sure if I need all the tools included with the Alien or CB but for a few extra £s will I regret not getting one with more options? Lighter would be better but not the be all and end all if I have the right tools on the trail when I need them.

Quality kit, the right tools and ease of use are probably top priorities as I don't want to have to buy another multitool in a year or so.

What are people's experiences of the 3 I've shortlisted and are there any others I should consider in the same price range?

Cheers,

Alan

I have a Hexus 1, only complaint is that I snapped one of the tyre levers.

Only things I've ever needed that aren't on the tool are pliers/clippers.....oh, and tyre levers now, but I carry them anyway.

I like my Topeak mini 18 it's been very useful ,as above the only thing missing from it is a pair of pliers but I carry a fold up 'True' set that has a file/knife/thing for getting stones out of horses hooves ect as well.

I've had a CB m17 as my main tral tool for years now. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Had a simpler Topeak one and a Pro one too which were ok, but something always went wrong in the end.

I have a CB 19 which has been sterling and back it up with a Gerber multi tool for pliers. Can't find a thing to fault with either of them and recomend both.

+1 for the CB19, but having said that, the others are good also.

I do like the look of the CB19 but just wondered how many of the tools will never get used?

Heard so many bad reports of CB stuff (looks good but poor design and quality issues) with the only exceptions being their multitools which seems slightly odd to me.

Cycle Pro with detachable chain tool £13 and has been brilliant (although it is orange...but matches my Cotic)
