Hi,
Looking to get some XC race tyres. Currently using continental speed kings which I am running tubeless with Stans no tubes.
Max spend £40 per tyre, looking to try something different
Any recommendations would really help!
Schwalbe Racing ralph are very good, also worth a look are Rocket Rons and Furious freds, but if you do any rides/races in rocky areas then best avoid them as the sidewalls are thin.
My current favourite set-up is
Kenda 2.1 El moco front (oodles of grip)
Kenda 2.1 Small Block 8 rear (rolls like a slick but still plenty of traction)
Served me faultlessly for the BC Bike race
I love Maxxis Ignitors. And Hutchinson Pythons.
second Pythons for dry hard packed
Spez Captains for when it's wet (bristol and Mayhem)
experimenting with Spez Fast Tracks at the moment as an inbetween type tyre.
Team Certini rave about them but I'm finding them a bit sketchy so I've changed to Captain front and Fast Track rear.
Off out training tonight so will report back!
For what sort of terrain?
Racing Ralphs if it's rocky, Rocket Rons if it's not, Furious Fred on the back if it's not technical.
Conti Race Kings? Very pleased with mine
Maxxis Crossmarks in the 2.1", eXCeption flavour? Claimed weight of 530g but tend to come in around 490g, fast rolling, great for most conditions except really muddy when the front will clog and get quite sketchy.
