I need to replace the rear wheel bearings on my rear wheel.
Bike is a Commencal Meta AM29 (2013) with Commencal hubs on Jalco rims. Sealed bearings, not cup and cone.
Once the axle/maxle is removed you need a couple of 17mm cone spanners to remove what appears to be an outer sleeve for the axle.
The problem is that I can only withdraw this sleeve about an inch through the hub before it catches on something. Obviously I can't replace the bearings with this sleeve in place.
Am I missing something blindingly obvious? Appears to be made of soft ally so I don't want to try to drift it out and damage the threads.
Cheers. ๐
Bumpity bump..... Really hoping someone on here can help otherwise I'm admitting defeat and taking the wheel to the shop. Even then I'd like to know what the problem is, just to satisfy my curiosity. ๐
