right here goes ive just got a new on-one 456 frame and im building it up i cant get the drive side bb to screw in it just keeps spinning and trying to take thread from the bb its like the thread in the frame is all wrong. ive installed lots in the past no bother but im stuck on this ,ive cleared the threads of any paint etc but its no good. this isnt right is it on a new frame?

also on the subject of paint i had a right job getting the wheels to seat in as the paint was so thick and also had to file the inside of the seat tube as it marked my new one due to the crap in the frame ;-( not happy

are you turning it the correct way or putting the correct cup in the correct side?

if in doubt about the thread, Id get it re-tapped at the LBS. Might as well have it faced at the same time (not that I think facing is necc)

One side is a reverse thread - I can never remember which - you are taking account of this aren't you?

Try cleaning the threads? Wire brush or a spike run round them if there is paint in the threads?

righty had a good proper look at it. it sees like it has taken a knock the initial thread bit started did about half a turn and then restarted (its as if once done the frame was banged and its damaged the thread. ive gone round it with a tiny point and i could feel the point catching at the same place as the dint but ive also dug out an old steel bb and gone thru it with that it now after a few goes . goes in nicely . shame my other bb is now ruined as the plastic threaded bit has gone on the first few threads so i cant get it in. at least the old fashion steel bb help me sort it out 😉 just hope a new bb goes in after a trip to the lbs tomorrow . cheers all
