My 30th this year & what better way to mark the occasion with a frame for life!
I've had a 92' & 93 Kona Hei Hei in the past & miss them dearly ;-(
I currently have a Cotic Soul which is perfect for the type of riding I do - mainly xc, running 100mm forks. So Cotic Soda is the frame I have been looking at.
Any other suggestions as the Cotic Soda really is top end of my budget.
thanks
Martin

Better things to spend the money on IMO, unless you're really set on ti.
I am fortunate to have a couple, bought the first way back in 1995 and it's still going, so they can be a bike for life but you have to choose carefully IMHO. I went for USA frames and built them up myself into bikes. I've seen a few postings over the years about Russian grade Ti frames failing but generally it's over hyped news and most are fine. So I'd recommend most of the American builders but that's just me and they are usually more expensive. Obviously lynsky and litespeed are well known brands but there are plenty of smaller builders out there. The ultimate bling is something like a black sheep or a steve Potts !
There have been some high-end Ti frames on Classifieds.
pipedream sirius ti is nice and not stupidly expensive. slidy dropouts in case you go "the other way". but yeah, I'd buy 2nd hand. Van Nicolas?
Thanks for comms
I will look down the 2ndhand route for sure
The van Nicholas mamtor looks nice as does the "marmite" lysnskey with the twisted tubing.
I gather the Soda is lynskey built, any other lynskey built frames out there?
Any thoughts on the Voodoo D-jab?
Just in case you had not seen this.

I've just arranged to buy a D-Jab frame off these very classifieds and am geting quite excited as I'm a Kona/Voodoo fan and this seems to tick every box for me 🙂
As stated above, Ti's certainly not a frame for life. Plus I think my Soul rides better than my Soda ever did, even before it failed.
We have Lynskeys, genisis and an ex demo Cove hummer Ti going for £650 and its mint

I also bought a d-jab off the classifieds a few weeks ago. Built it up SS and took it for a spin saturday. Felt great. My 1st ti hardtail
just want a kent erikson seatpost now
That Van Nich is a bargain, at not much more than I've just paid for the used Voodoo. ah well...
That Van Nich is a bargain, at not much more than I've just paid for the used Voodoo
But it's a voodoo!
you won't regret it. I'm becoming a bit of a voodoo fan. I've also got a scandium sobo which is super light. the d-jab in comparison feels very different (less harsh)

The Ragley Ti which is mad, screaming, laugh out loud brilliant, but doesn't sound like what you're after really...

Why not throw your money at the best wheelset, kit etc and forks instead? 🙂
Ti can be a frame for life but you need to consider a few points. I own an early Airborne Lucky Strike, now 11 years old. Love it to bits and expect to keep it for life BUT since it was designed, new options for BB shells, geometry / fork length, bolt through dropouts, wider OLDs, head tubes & disc mounts have all emerged, some of which may become industry standard.
I got disc mounts welded to mine and now run it with 100mm forks rather than the 80mm forks it was designed to take. That's about as far as the future proofing goes. If 1 1/8 steerers, 68mm BBs and 135mm hubs disappear in 25 years, I'll need to stock up or the bike will become obsolete. This has already happened to my ancient Dawes tourer with 27" wheels, long trail forks and very deep drop calipers. It has sat in the hut for over a decade as I can't replace the brakes or fork. 🙁
All the pics are on my 'puta at home. I'll sort you out this evening.
Hora - I have some Hope pro 3's & Sid race to chuck on it already which is more than adequate for me
Know what you mean downshep hence why I no longer own my Hei Hei's. Technology moved on & sticking disc brakes & 100mm forks would have totally messed with the geometry on them.
I'll re-phrase, frame for a decade atleast 😉
Why not buy a Whyte? With their pricing that surely is a frame for life!
Do they come with a lifetime warranty? Any decent ti frame should so in essence should be 'for life'.
Sadly I have a budget fella
I could afford nice things before we bought our 1st house ( not that I'm complaining!)
Now this is a once in a blue moon chance to get something nice with longevity
In that case an as new ti frame.
I picked up my 36 floats for less than half price of here when they were under a month old (and mint). There is no way I could pay anywhere near the retail on those (especially as I cack up forks).
Drapoon: What's yer email addy? I'll put some pics together for you.
