Hello,
Finally had a claim settled for the theft of the front end of my Duster by filthy allen-key toting feefs.
I think I'm mostly going to replace the parts that were robbed, but the forks aren't stocked anywhere and the numpties at insurers have quoted for 130mm forks when i need 100mm (which I didn't find out until i'd accepted the deal...). I'm also looking at different disc brakes, potentially. So what would you have out of these...?
100 mm forks for £190-£200 (used to have rs recon 351 solo air)
Rockshox Recon 351 Coil U-Turn 07 – 195
RockShox Tora 318 Coil U-Turn 130mm MC + Poploc 09 - 167.99
RockShox Tora Race Solo Air 100mm 09 - £180.08
Marzocchi MX PRO ETA 08 - £198.19
Marzocchi XC 500 ETA Fork 2008 - 195.74
or any other ideas you've got
brakes, f + r (used to have Avid J5s)
Avid J5s - 76 per end
SLX - 69.99
XT - 69.99
again, any other ideas gratefully received.
Finally, would you say that £60 is a fair quote (from insurers) for an LBS fitting Forks, stem and bars and levers, gear cables, disc brakes (front and rear)? I've a feeling it might be a bit low...
Looking forward to getting back out on the trails after 6 months of insurance drudgery. Not long now, I hope.
John
Not sure if it's enough for a shop. maybe if you buy the bits from them it would. I'd do it for that though! That includes cutting and rebleeding brake hose and facing disc tabs if needed.
thanks onzadog i'll bear it in mind
buggers have only given me £5 for gear cables too. no goodridge for me...
