Not buying imminently, but I have no idea what 1x cranks I should be looking at.
Currently have XTR M970, so I want to replace with something nice without being stupidly expensive. Preferably £250 ish. Now - my bike originally had a GXP bottom bracket and cranks, but a HTII bearing was fitted to the drive side (I think) which means I can fit HTII cranks as I have - but it needs two little spacers. I've got a spacer on each side, so the cranks are equally spaced in the frame BUT now I am running 1x9 bodged onto the old triple cranks I have noticed that the middle ring is further outboard than it should be. The chainline is much sharper than I'd like in the big sprocket and with two more inboard it'd be intolerable.
So, is this because I have HTII cranks? Is the middle ring position not the same as the position of a 1x ring, OR is it because the bike was designed for GXP? Is GXP alignment different to Shimano?
So if I were to get 1x specific cranks, which ones should I get? What's decently light and in my price range? Sram X1/XX1? XTR? XT? Hope? Help me!
Bump?
I have Hope cranks.
They are fantastically engineered and very hard wearing.
Installation is time consuming but worth paying attention to.
Here they are on my Edit:

I'd purchase cranks based upon what BB they work with. I.e, I am getting rid of Turbines RF BBs are poorly sealed and don't last..
Yup, me too, which rules out anything by SRAM. GXP BBs are bloody terrible.
Are they light? Struggling to find weights for cranks. Seems to be a time consuming occupation googling for the multifarious models.
