I want to order a cane creek angle set for my new bike. It's a 2011 zesty 714 with a tapered head tube but I just don't get all the integrated/ semi integrated / cup depth stuff.

I know I need to get a 1/8th standard steerer fork but would this be the right one for me?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

If you have a tapered head you can use a tapered fork steerer too.

Really? With the angle set headset? That's not what the website says, I assume it uses the free space left from going down a size to adjust the headset angle.

I meant in general sorry, I don't no about angle set headsets. I am possibly an idiot.

Lol! The first step to dealing a problem is admitting you have a problem 😉

yup that looks like the right one.

Does your current headset fit quite flush on the bottom? Some of the headsets have a lower stack height of 14 mm or so (eg On One frames) but some have zero stack (about 2mm sticking out) on the bottom cup.

had a look for a picture but can't make it out. Post one up if you are not sure. Nice looking bike but £180 for a headset!

S'alright I got my google on and sussed it out. It's the right one and £180 is stupid cash for a headset, so is the £90 I'm paying for it really. It's part of my 'one bike to rule them all' plan though, needs must and all that...

£90 is pretty good when a Hope tapered/reducer is £70.

I went for the £40 superstar option as there is not a lot to some alloy cups and some ball bearings (the hope is sealed better at the crown race though) so £90 for one that gives you more things to play with is okay.

How heavy is it though?

112g. pretty decent I think, especially considering how much it can change how your bike feels. I like the fact that it drops your bb and steepens the seat angle rather than raising and slackening like a long fork does.
