Spent a day with AQR at Sherwood Pines today. There were 9 in our group ranging from newby to experienced.
We were lucky i think to get a good mix of peeps who helped/encouraged each other to improve the skill we already had or learn them in the first place. It was a real pleasure watching people conquer their fears and pick up new techniques.
On a personal level, i am like most of you badly bitten by this bug and i like to think a pretty decent rider (although the cornering practice helped a lot, why do i practise drop offs but not corners!). For me the biggest gain from the day is a wife who mastered every new skill she was shown (i have tried to show her them myself but we know how that works..)
The first technique of the day was steep climbing while turning and she fell off on both turns (nervous). Once she took on board Jons patient instruction she nailed the lot and never looked back.
If this describes you and your mister/missus then get a skills day booked. At £35 quid each its a snip and we will be returning for day 2.
