[#1210431]

I have a DX bike light. Been running fine on past night rides and has been great. I went to go out last week and the battery was dead. Charged up full and got 100 yards tonight and light on the back went red. Battery has not got wet, has been wrapped in a food back to protect. It has however been left in the cold for a few days. I suppose the question is is it ****ed. Not good 4 days before puffer.....Help!!!

The build quality on the DX stuff can said to be a bit suss, are you any good with soldering iron, chances are it will be a dodgy solder joint.

Xan - the light on the back of mine has never been green. It still runs for 3hrs on full though.

thebikechain. That would be brilliant. I would be forever in your debt.

I'm trying to get a hold of one of the guys in my club to get a loan of one, but that would be perfect.

You in edinburgh?

If so, pop in and ask for me any day this week.

If you aren't then you need to give me your address and i will get it sent to you.

Mark

I find i sometimes have to play with the connection between the light and charger when charging it up. Sometimes the light will be green as soon as i start chargin it, but if i toggle it a few times then the light turns red. Then i know it is charging.

Try it

Xan- my bastid indicator light goes funny in the recent cold. It turns red after about 30 mins. But a multimeter says it's still 8v so it's still good for over 2 hours. I just run it til it's noticably dim, then recharge it.

But - you may not want to rely on that in a 'race'.

30 Rodney Street.

At the bottom of Broughton Street - over the roondaboot and down on the right before you get to Tesco.

Ken it?

Just put it in the Sat Nav so should find it ok.
Is it a spare battery you have?

Mine seems to have the red light on most of the time, regardless of the state of the battery

Perfect thankyou. Can you please drop me a mail with either email address or contact number. Would be good to chat a few things over with you without doing on a public forum. My email address in paulxan (@) hotmail.co.uk (remove spaces and brackets obviously)

Jamie, totally agree. I am amazed by the sheer generosity shown by thebikechain (Is your real name Mark?)

This has perhaps saved me from an interesting puffer, and alot of money and worry trying to get a last minute light for the race.

FFS - I agree with ISBI Arrgghhh -

Mark of the bike chain is a generous chap - I have some fantastic all singing all dancing light from him on test for the 'puffer and he helped sort me out with other kit at reasonable prices as well - including my studded tyres

With an act like this I think I have just found my new LBS!!!! (even though its not that local)

Had a quick look at the lights and I think it might just be a fault with the indicator on the rear. Seems to be flashing green and red now, but not worth taking the risk going without at least a backup.

We should arrange a STW meet up on the Friday night. I'll bring the Jack!!

I'll start a fresh post just now.

I'll be easy to spot - bravely tagging along at the back being a tortoise. Riding a bright yellow genesis with tape wrapped round the frame and mary bars.

I expect you to give me a push up the hills as you pass.
