keeps on coming off, will removing say 3 links stop it , or do i nee to splash out on a chain device, bike in question is orange patriot.

need to at least tell us what set up you have.
Chain length should be largest gears + 1 whole link but it does sound like you need a chain device.

When shortening your chain remember to accomodate for chaingrowth during rear suspension compression, remove shock spring/air and compress the rear end before using Andy's rule.

Ps. once you've said your set-up, state which side of (which) chainring the chain falls off.

hi guys, its got granny and middle ring, keeps coming off middle ring,onto the granny ring.
