Hello I am Vic (Victoria), I have been looking at all the interesting goings on for a while so I plucked up the courage and joined, I have just started riding again after a few years off the bike, I have a mtb but im not very good ๐Ÿ˜ณ the bike has 2 wheels firmly on the ground ๐Ÿ˜• so I may ask a few technical questions every now and again x

Welcome. Quick tip. If you post a picture of your bike up here, make sure you paint your fence first.

Quick tip. If you post a picture of your bike up here, make sure you paint your fence first.

You should immediately note a couple of things about the above statement:

Firstly it's not a euphemism for anything...they really do comment on your fences and your paving and your weed situation etc etc etc.

Secondly, note the immediate assumption that any bike photos will take place in your garden as opposed to out on the trails. The implications of this are obvious.

Oh...and welcome to STW! You'll love it here!

Roadie in Denial, I salute you! A superb post!

Victoria, welcome. You'll like it here, I hope! There's a large amount of waffle, large amounts of it from me, I admit, but on the whole there's virtually nothing the STWHiveMind can't help you with......!

Oh, apart from letting us know your favourite cephalopod, that is. We don't know that yet....

Cheers Cap'n. You've made me smile on what has been a difficult day (snapped stuck seatpost...tool kit 400 miles away...you get the idea).

You've made me smile

Victoria, if there's one thing to take from all this silliness, it's this.

Sometimes, when things are bad, and the world conspires against you, some random STWer will make you smile. And for that, I am grateful for this little den of insanity!

๐Ÿ™‚

Roadie, glad I raised a smile!

pootle-wise we normally pootle around castleton / edale / Ladybower way and generally do no more than 15 miles.

The pace is social - speed demons must be prepared to hold gates for people - and we normally have a pint and a bite afterwards.

I started them to provide a group ride where everyone felt welcome and nobody was left at the back feeling slow - I've been that person and hated it! Our little group at the back happily call themselves the peaks pushers.....

Have a look at the Peaks Pootle thread for more of an idea and more details of the 14th soon- or just come along, you're more than welcome!

No starting a sentence with a lower case letter.
No starting a sentence with a conjunction.
Punctuation after I'm needed.

5/10 see me later

I believe STW has PLENTY of people willing to laugh at you if you're not too. Don't take it personally though. Unless you're prepared to do a champion flounce.
