Blimey. Too gnarly for the likes of me on my Xc SS. Is it me or are some of those berms a bit too tight?

Spotted some red paint on some trees so guessed that. We kind of blundered into it part way down and then pushed up. Minced back down again! Wrong kinda bike and no skillz (as all the kids are saying these days). Will have another look at it though! ;0)

I think it's alright. The builders have been busy over the last few weeks. I've ridden up it a couple of times now just to try and commit it to memory. Does anyone know if it is legit?

Berms to tight paths/routes criss cross so hard to know which route you are on some parts only for downhill bikes (or very skilled riders) scary as hell in the dark and lots of tree related accident potential

Johnnie took us down the black in the pitch dark for the 1st time the other week. It was ok, but too tight to flow for my liking. Didn't do the red mind.

Its tight but reckon it would be fine if you spent a few hours riding it, some of the landings aren't too clever tho, I'd rather jump onto rocks across the whole of the track rather than have a strip of dirt with rocks either side - really not into those uphill bits:( Don't think its really that great for 100mm travel hardtails either.......taking big bike up next sunday for a play:)

ands its all legit - Lancs Council was heavily involved (and very helpfull what I can gather) as it's their land and it was built by Blackburn and District riders plus friends

Yup its all legit. I myself was digging alongside the Countryside Officer for West Pennine Moors Lancs County Council. The red trail is paid for by Lancs CC, built by contractors, and will soon be getting some minor improvements to the existing stuff and an extension that takes it along the western edge of the wood. This work is scheduled for two phases over the summer.

The black is being built by volunteers and is getting towards completion.

Feedback is welcome and will be fed to the trail designer (Rowan Sorrell) when he's next on site to mark out the new red trail and inspect the volunteers work on the black. See http://www.badforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=8 for some threads and 'discussions' about proceedings!

There are also regular official and unofficial dig days so volunteers are welcome! The next one is looking like May 16th tho we might be doing some on Thursday evenings instead.

The trails will be getting properly way marked with an information board etc. published like the one at Lee Quarry. Also one of the runs near the top is not legit. So hopefully it will become less confusing for future visits.

Its only a small place so its never going to be amazing but the hope is in the long term several mini trail centres can be established linked by the west pennine moor bridleway loop that is now mostly constructed and due to be opened next year. We just have to hope other local landowners (United Utilities namely) following the encouraging example set by the council in this endeavour.
