But a bit cheaper would be ideal, rack mounts nice geometry for mix of forest road, single-track, lakes riding and done touring. I like the look and geometry of the broken road bits it's outside of budget presently

Titus Mutsu via Planet X would've been a good option, but think I got one of the last ones recently (could always ask if they plan to get more in: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FRTITMUTSUPRE/titus-mutsu-titanium-hardtail-expedition-frame-pre-order). My use is similar to how yours sounds. Built mine with a rigid 490mm a-c fork.
