Might be some rule somewhere but wtf !! Love to see them try this with Cav or Wiggins in a big race. But then they wouldn't would they ?
It is utterly ridiculous, some more:

From reading the comments of those who were there, it appears that the commissars and BC have tried to find a way to fit their decision. The BC site even says:
Trott took a photo-finish victory from Hannah Barnes (MG - MaxiFuel Pro Cycling) in the Rapha Elite Women's Criterium
BC Report
And mentions nothing of demotion or sanction. Apparently the team weren't notified of the sanction until monday evening! And there has been no photo of the photo finish forthcoming...
Cav has been demoted for "acting dangerously" in sprint finishes, and I seem to recall at the time thinking he didn't do any more than the other contenders.
However without seeing the incident involving Hannah Barnes I can't say if it was any less serious or more ridiculous a decision.
Lifted her hands for a fraction of a second.
Apparently Trott was wearing overshoes.
Cav's been demoted for deviating from the line (ie cutting people off)
The issue is supposedly she endangered riders who still had lap(s) to go.
It wouldn't be racing without all the crazy rules.
Looking at that Cycling weekly pic I can't see how she endangered anyone.
Maybe her crime was beating a higher profile rider ๐
Without going into conspiracy theories, I reckon they made the wrong call on the night, and came up with this bull to save going back and altering the result. Very poor IMHO.
The cynic in me can't help but come to the conclusion that Trott wining would be more useful to the sponsors...
Cheers,
Jamie
Loss of face for bosses problem. The little people always suffer. I wonder who put the original complaint in?
I'm with taxi125. Just fits perfectly
I don't think any sinister, just face saving that's backfired.
Is this the same Hannah Barnes, the mountain biker? Or are there two??
Is this same Hannah Barnes, the mountain biker? Or are there two??
Nope, there are two.
Oh you mean it's not my Hannah Barnes? Well in that case I don't care.
lol
this is the hannah barnes who crashes, remounts, wins the race, then goes to hospital
http://www.tourseries.co.uk/news/4725.php
for nine stitches in her chin.
the prettier girls always win
it is the way of things
shame as Hannah Barnes is having a stormer in the Tour Series
It all seems deeply unfair.
Very unfair. All lapped riders were meant to leave the race several laps early. My team mate made the comment that some of them did not. Since the finish line then headed down into a nasty right hander, she'd not be holding her arms up for long anyway.
Trott wins IG Nocturn always had a ring to it, especially as Dowsett finished second.
The decision has now been reversed and Barnes awarded the win.
Good.
Thats good news.
Good news.
Justice has been done. It should never have taken them this long to get the right result though - hopefully what went on won't just be brushed under the carpet.
Bloody hell that crash is mental! Like nails but harder.
Top bird ๐
organizers preferred to have the Olympic golden girl as the winner simples.
On the tellybox now.
Having watched that I can't see what the issue was?? Barnes was well ahead?
Good race though!
Just seen the footage on CH4. Does look like the sprint was carnage but good to see Barnes awarded her rightful place in the end.
So they had to wind their necks in before it went out on TV.
Crikey, she's absolute nails isn't she?
Brilliant, the sport can always do with more ballsy riders like that.
hopefully what went on won't just be brushed under the carpet.
