I went from a hardtail + 140mm full suss + downhill bike to this

and i havent looked back....mind it all coincided with a reality check on my riding.
Play the percentages, one proper bit of kit for the main type of riding you do and just accept that its ok for the "now and then's"

Santa Cruz Blur TRc with 140 revs, 1x10, flows and a dropper, lighter than I need (could lose plenty off my gut tbh!) but strong enough for anything I ride regularly. Could have easily made do with the Evil Sovereign it replaced as the geo is similar, but I enjoy the rear squish 😀

Yes, a Kona Cindercone 2012. Have changed the handlebars, pedals and tyres, that is it. It does everything. Always had just one bike, prior to this it was a Ragley Blue Pig and prior to that it was a Kona Blast 2010. The pig was lovely, but like a brick. The Blast was the starter, but soon found its limitations. The Cindercone is just right....the proverbial third bowl of porridge.

My Pitch is my only bike since I broke my Soda, perfect bike for the Lakes IMHO.
I have a road bike but that doesn't count 😉

And as promised: The Meta.

[img] [/img]

Specced out with a XT drivetrain, Deore cranks (on the upgrade list) Revelation 429 fork and a fox RP23 at the back. Mavic CrossRide wheels under all the mud (soon to be replaced) and the 2012 XT brakes to stop me.

Genesis core 40 singlespeed, coil RS fork so its easy to service. I don't want more than one bike, I'd always have a favourite anyway.

[s]Need[/s] want more hope stuff - avid brakes/shimano hubs are a PITA to service sometimes 🙁

Ibis Mojo SL-R.

I do however have a Scott Scale 50 frame probably enough spares to build it back up.

No. I seem to be going the other way again. I'm reasonably relaxed about that 😉 Loved the pic on the first page - lovely sky. Shame about the Marin 😉

at one point last year I had the choice of a fleet,Cube Stereo Race, Rumblefish 2 29er full suss, Niner Air9 29er hard tail and an one inbred single speed. Whichever bike I was on I always wanted to be on whatever bike was in the garage.

So sold the lot, had six months off and came back on a rigid 29er, Genesis Fortitude Race and it's been the only bike I've actually said I'll keep.

2007 Focus Northern Light, with plenty of upgrades over the years. In fact, the only parts left of the original bike are the frame, brakes and derailleurs.

Got a Kona five-0. I've never seen another one on the trails, ever, and never heard anyone else mention one on here so it's actually the most Niche bike on STW, even though it has a bomber fork, gears, and 26 inch wheels. 🙂

(Thought I was getting seriously unmotivated/unfit until I replaced the entire 4 yr old drivetrain and wheels (races were kaput in the rear), and suddenly I was ok again.)

Turner 5 spot just about meets all my requirements although it is built up at a burly 34 pounds.
I would buy a lighter more XC bike if I could justify the £s
