I've got an old set of 25.4mm/750mm wide low rise bars that I fancy trying in place of my current 31.8/710mm flats, rather than finding a new stem I am toying with the idea of using a shim (I checked and it's only a fiver or so)...
Anyone done this with wider bars? Other than perhaps looking a little odd is there any reason not to?

id did exactly this. Fit a forget, literally. Until i read this thread i had forgotten i'd used them.
